Strange behavior

Got up nice and early today, had productive day, but still can't get to sleep! Hmm. Went to kitchen for some midnight(ish) cheese and crackers and ended up practicing some balancing postures in the living room. I am still in my old apartment, and I have discovered that if I balance my camera on the stovetop... and stand in front of the coffee table... I can take decent videos of myself. So that's what I did at 1am tonight: video analysis of my standing head to knee and standing bow pulling...

Sometimes I just don't know what's wrong with me! Ha.

I have been all over the place with the SNACKING today! I had like 5 cookies on the way to class. But I WAS hungry, and they were good cookies. My mom baked them and shipped them from Massachusetts, which is pretty awesome.

I did consider posting the video, but then I thought twice. Bit revealing, don't you think? Either you will think it's GREAT and think I'm showing off, or you will see all my mistakes (there are many) and think I'm not that good. Loose-loose for everyone!!!

What I REALLY should have been practicing was half-tortoise pose.

Why does "tortoise" have that second O in it? I always think it should be "tortise," but spell-check says "no."

I wonder if someone got rich for inventing the spell-check? And if so, did someone ELSE get rich for inventing the grammar check, or was that just the obvious extension? How come spell check appears on everything, but grammar check only appears in Microsoft Word when I don't want it on?

Yes, I AM this A.D.D. even with the yoga. I'm beginning to think that I was just never meant to sit still all day long. It's not the concentrating part that bothers me as much as the sitting around part. Maybe I should start practicing in the mornings or something. Like, twice.

Goodnight guys!

I could literally see your mind bouncing from one thing to the next. Too funny!

If I blogged in the same pattern that my mind thinks... It would make NO SENSE to anyone. Even me.

Some of us would maybe be batshit insane without this yoga.

Upload upload!

Did you know that the spellcheck in browsers is set to American English by default?

Since I'm a rather pedantic bitch about spelling, I HATE it when my spellcheck goes bonkers when I type colour , personalise, tantalise, tyre ...

I was ADD in class yest so I went for a back2back. Totally ruined after that.

Aw, you guys totally "get" my craziness. That is wonderful. Hannah, I am glad you are entertained!!

Missus - Yeah, same here. I guess this is why we must THINK before we write, instead of just typing directly from the stream of consciousness!

Michelle - Does "some of us" mean YOU or ME? Either way, I am DELIGHTED that people outside of Boston are familiar with the term "batshit crazy." It's one of my favorites.

Mei - Maybe upload later, when I can do a better job on the postures... Last night's video helped me discover a couple little issues that I wanna fix first! (Tho of course, I am ALWAYS tweaking...)

Definitely practice in the morning! I do and I notice I'm much calmer and better able to concentrate throughout the day. Also, when things or people's attitudes come up here in the office, I am better able to handle them. Morning practice is totally different from afternoon/evening practice because your body is less warm so it's also a practice in no judgement. ;)

Yeah, tell me about it. I LOVE having a morning practice. For my first year or so of Bikram, my routine was to roll out of bed and into the studio, and I LOVED it. Now it's just a matter of scheduling, since it's easier for me to get to evening classes (I am not by nature a morning person), and some days the earliest class isn't til 9am, which is already too late! But I should really make an effort again. Maybe I can get to 7am on Wednesday... hm...

My husband is shocked at my behavior ever since I started bikram. I'm not a morning person at all. Before, he used to leave the apartment for the office, I was still out cold. Now, I get up at 5am for 6am classes on TU, TH & 6am 7am classes on M, W b/c it takes a solid 25 minute subway ride to get to my studio. These days, I'm up 1.5-2.5 hours before my hubby. He really is impressed.

What gets me out of bed? I would much rather practice in a room of 15 students in the morning instead of 70 in the evenings. That's how crowded it gets at my studio at night! Just the thought of all of us jostling for space in the locker room as we come out as others come in for the next class makes me bounce out of bed. Also, the studio is the cleanest, the least smelly and the floor is least wet in the morning. Another reason to go early. ;)

Nevertheless, you are still bound by your own studio schedule. 7am -- you can do it!!!

J~ Well, I wasn't referring to either of us with the batshit crazy (although my mental state does go right into the toilet after several days w/out yoga) , I just wanted to be able to work those words into conversation. What a funny phrase! :)=
